Scanning a kitten at a clinic to check for a microchip.

Microchipping is the best way to ensure that your pet will find her way home should she become lost. The City of Panora and the Panora Police Dept. have a scanner that is used on every animal that is picked up in Panora.

Microchipping:

▪ gives your pet life-time identification. Your pets information is stored on a universal database,

▪ eliminates a collar. We still recommend collars with current identification but if your pet looses her collar, she will still have identification,

▪ protects your pet from loss or theft, and

▪ does not hurt your pet nor can you or your pet even feel it.

Microchipping is available for your pet at most veterinary clinics. We encourage you to contact your local vet for more information about microchipping.
