▪ P.E.T.S. (Protecting Even the Strays) was created with the vision of humanely assisting the numerous stray and feral cats in Panora, Iowa.

▪ P.E.T.S. has now grown to become a safe haven for many abused, orphaned, unwanted, and abandoned animals.

▪ P.E.T.S., located in Panora, Iowa, is a non-profit rescue organization consisting of volunteers only.  We provides humane shelter and services for animals in need in our area.  While we hold a shelter license with the State of Iowa, we are not a traditional shelter.  All of our dogs and a majority of our cats are in foster homes.  Only cats reside at our shelter location.

▪ Through contributions from individuals and organizations, P.E.T.S. maintains its dedication to animals.  Without the generous support of the community and beyond, P.E.T.S. would not be able to assist the 200+ animals that come into our care ever year.

The following are programs that we have implemented:

Opurration Fix-it! - TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program. The TNR Program is a plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized. Kittens and tame cats are taken to a shelter so that they can be adopted. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat (colony) under the lifelong care of volunteers.

▪ Mobile, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Available for owners with multiple barn, alley, stray, or feral cats, and entire litters of kittens and puppies. [More Information]

▪ "Neuter-a-Tom" Day. A low-cost neuter clinic held every Spring. This clinic is available to anyone with a tom cat needing altered. This includes house cats. Cost is only $25!

▪ Dog & Cat Microchip Clinic.

▪ Abuse/Cruelty Hotline—641.431.1PET. 24-hour contact to report abuse or cruelty to an animal.

▪ Lost/Stray Animal Assistance. P.E.T.S. works with the City of Panora to assist lost or homeless animals. This includes temporary shelter for the animal.  We also assist individuals who report stray or lost pets.

P.E.T.S. is also committed to the welfare of all domestic animals in Panora. Through education and assistance by the City and law enforcement, P.E.T.S. would like to make Panora an outstanding community for people and pets, including feral cats, and perhaps inspire others to form similar groups in our neighboring communities.
