About the Historical Village

The Guthrie County Historical Village is located on a beautiful 4-acre complex on the southwest side of Panora, Iowa, just a few blocks away from the scenic Middle Raccoon River, historic Lenon Mill Park, and the Raccoon River Valley Trail. The Village features twelve buildings, a Milwaukee caboose, numerous exhibits, and thousands of artifacts that explore the history of Guthrie County from 1850 to the early-20th Century.

The museum is a county-wide project that started in 1968 with the acquisition of the Panora Depot. The majority of our collection has been donated by families and friends in the surrounding communities. If you have not visited the museum recently, we encourage you to make plans to do so during the 2011 season.  We have many fun and educational events and programs this season.

We are now closed for the 2011 season.
