Pioneer Days, May 2007 The Historical Village will once again host Pioneer Days for our county 5th-grade students this May. We have set aside the week of May 1st, Monday thru Friday mornings, for our presentations. Classes scheduled for that day should arrive by 9AM. The students will have approximately 45 minutes at three different sites to enjoy hands-on education. They will rotate through all three sites with the program concluding at approximately 11:45AM for lunch on the grounds. Students can then tour the rest of the complex with a teacher or chaperone, if desired. Our staff and volunteers are limited so we will only be able to do this type of program once per season. If your school is unable to attend that week, you are certainly welcome to visit anytime during our season for a guided tour of the complex.
Please confirm your school's participation by March 31st. Be sure to indicate a preference of date with your response. We will do our best to accommodate you. If there are multiple requests for the same day, we will contact you immediately for rescheduling. We hope to hear from you soon. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the Village at 641.755.2989 or gchv@netins.net. Thank you for letting us share Guthrie County history with your students! |

Antique Car Show & County Tour Saturday, September 15—10am to 4pm
The 7th-annual Antique Car Show and County Tour is scheduled for September 15th, 2007. We invite you to bring your cool car, truck, street rod, or even motorcycle, and join the fun! The tour will start at the Historical Village in Panora at 10AM. After viewing all the cars, the participants will travel on to Yale and then the rest of the towns in the county. Over 50 people and 18 cars participated in the car parade last year. Cars ranged in age from a 1913 Ford to a 1996 Mustang with many in between.
We will show our cars in each town, stopping at any nursing homes along the way, and have lunch at the Bayard Park. You may bring your own picnic lunch or purchase a great lunch from the Highland Hustlers. The Hustlers will be serving grilled hamburgers, chips, pasta salad, baked beans, dessert, and lemonade/iced tea for only $6! All proceeds will go to the Highland Hustlers 4-H group for upcoming projects.
RSVP is not required to attend but is always appreciated. If you will be attending this year’s car show & county tour and are going to purchase a lunch from the Hustlers, you can let us know by dropping us an email or calling the Village—641.755.2989.
