PETS is not a shelter;  we assist animals in need from Guthrie County because there is no animal shelter in Guthrie County.  PETS lists animals on Petfinder.com as a public service for our local communities.

What We Do

P.E.T.S. is committed to organizing programs within the community to reduce the stray and feral cat population humanely.

The following are programs that we have implemented:

Opurration Fix-it! - the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program. The TNR Program is a plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized. Kittens and tame cats are taken to a shelter so that they can be adopted. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat (colony) under the lifelong care of volunteers.

▪ Mobile, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Available for owners with multiple barn, alley, stray, or feral cats, and entire litters of kittens and puppies. [More Information]

▪ "Neuter-a-Tom" Day. A low-cost neuter clinic held every Spring. This clinic is available to anyone with a tom cat needing altered. This includes house cats. Cost is only $25!

▪ Dog & Cat Microchip Clinic.

The following are programs that we would like to implement:

▪ Lost/Stray Animal Assistance. P.E.T.S. would like to work with city officials to adopt an appropriate and effective way to assist lost or homeless animals. This includes temporary shelter for the animal.

▪ Abuse/Cruelty Hotline. 24-hour contact information to report abuse or cruelty to an animal.

▪ Educational Programs for children.

▪ Informational Programs for pet owners.

P.E.T.S. is also committed to the welfare of all domestic animals in Panora. Through education and assistance by the city and law enforcement, P.E.T.S. would like to make Panora an outstanding community for people and pets, including feral cats, and perhaps inspire others to form similar groups in our neighboring communities.
